New Facebook Changes!

So many Facebook changes – What are they??

You will have noticed not one or two … but plenty of changes to your Facebook personal profile – with some changes showing up on your Facebook page/s too!

So — a quick look at some of the new changes ….

The Ticker

I am putting this one first because I think it’s one of the most exciting changes! You will find the ticker on the right hand side of your screen above the chat feature.  There is a grey scroll bar to the right of the ticker allowing you to see more if you wish.

The ticker is a live feed area of what is happening literally right now – up to the minute stuff!!! When you hover over or click on anything in the ticker – the full story will come in without you losing your place – you can even comment straight from the ticker.  You will see the ticker move as more stories come in ….. so good!!

The News Feed

Say goodbye to the Two-Option News Feed – (Top Stories or Most Recent) and say hello to a single news feed (click Home to get to news feed).   The redesigned news feed also shows larger-sized photos – which you have probably noticed by now – exciting changes!

The New Add Friend Button

Sending friend requests has changed:  now when you click on the Add Friend button on their profile you will be given a list of options you didn’t before.   The list starts with Close Friend (automatically sets subscription button to All Posts) or Acquaintance (automatically sets subscription button to Only Important posts).    You can also manage these lists from the Friends tab on your profile so don’t worry if you forget to click Close Friend or Acquaintance because you can go in and change it!

The Subscribe Button

You can now subscribe to someone even if you are not friends (or let others subscribe to you) and you can control how much you want to hear from a person.  You are already automatically subscribed to your friends and now you can choose what you want to see from your friends:  In your news feed you will see on the right hand side of each post that there is a little grey drop-down arrow where you can choose

All updates: Everything your friend posts
Most updates: The amount you’d normally see
Important updates only: Just highlights

View Shares

If anyone shares your post – you will now see a View Shares and be able to see who has shared!

The Top Right Hand Corner

Home | Profile | Account are now:

Profile:  Now a thumbnail of the user instead of Profile button (makes it clearer when using Facebook as a Page)

Account:  Now a small down arrow where you will find account and privacy settings, logout, use Facebook as Page, etc.

Home : still a Home button!

Friend Activity Tab (Facebook pages)

When you go onto your Page (but don’t Switch to use as Page) – you will see a  Friend Activity tab which shows you how people are interacting with your page!
